For 5 years of my life, doctors (including primary care and a reproductive endocrinologist) told me I would never be able to have a child on my own and that I would for sure need IVF therapy. I was overweight, stressed out, and had high blood pressure at 25 years old. I started going to a weight loss clinic that put me on a meal plan and B12 shot regimen. Everything was "great" until I hit a 20-pound stopper - no matter what, I could not lose any more weight. I was tired, low energy, and needing caffeine all day long (which came with a crash). That's when I said “screw this” and looked elsewhere. I found Jennifer Merin Babich was the best for my needs as I wanted a personal trainer and nutritionist. I saw that she had published her own nutrition book, and loved her message. We met in October of 2017, and from day one I knew I made a great choice. The care, compassion, and realness that poured from Jennifer was beyond what I expected. Within 6 weeks we had added in MORE food, better exercise, and I eventually lost a total of 56 healthy pounds. My hormones had regulated, my liver was functioning better, and my blood pressure was normal. With everything in my body falling into place and working the way it should, in April of 2018 I found out I was pregnant. One year after working with Jennifer, on October 21st, 2018, my precious baby boy was born. To this day I will be indebted to Jennifer for the rest of my life. I still message, text, and follow her posts. I have had sessions after my pregnancy, including functional nutritional counseling to keep me on track. Even when I was at my heaviest and unmotivated, she believed in me, she pushed me within my limitations, and I am forever grateful. -KR
This is the first structured program that I have participated in before. I was rather nervous about starting, but my increasing weight was causing so many negatives in my life that I was at my wit’s end. I have found Jennifer to be a constant source of support, encouragement, knowhow and motivation for me that I just couldn’t help to succeed. Being seriously overweight for the past 8 years, I had somehow resigned myself to the fact that this was just the way I was going to be. She helped me to change that mindset and made me realize that I am, indeed, an athletic man, with great stamina, and good discipline. I had no energy when I started, dangerously high blood pressure, poor cardiovascular health, virtually no flexibility... but it was amazing how quickly that changed. I found as early as my one-month recheck that my health had changed drastically with my doctor even removing me from my high blood pressure medication! Those quick results have encouraged me to push a little harder and keep going. I was never one to set any type of personal goals or really take much of an interest in physical exercise. Today I can’t get enough of it and I’m looking forward to continuing to achieve those goals, becoming healthier and happier and achieving a brand new, improved quality of life for myself. If you can’t find the motivation to start, don’t worry about it...just do it! -MN
Jennifer Merin Babich, has changed my life. That’s not easy for a 68 year old to say. It’s sort of like making a sharp left turn when you’re the captain of the Titanic! But the changes will have an effect on the rest of my life. My adolescent years painted me as an asthmatic wimp, unable to do much physically, giving up in a wheezy panic. Most of my life has been spent bouncing from this new asthma drug to that. The newest drugs are much more effective than the old, so my last seven or eight years have been better. Even with the new drugs however, the reality is that any physical exertion would panic me, and stop me dead in my tracks. My head would give in to what had been well learned: when the breathing gets harder, stop.
In 2001 my family doctor introduced Advair to my asthma regimen, behind Proventil and Prednisone. Initial use did not produce the improvement he anticipated, so it was off to a specialist. My doctor had prescribed a middle of the road dosage, so no surprise, the specialist wanted to double it. When I asked if there were any options, his response was a sobering, “you die.” (Yup, that’s what the specialist said.) Advair had its plusses, but it had also put me into a constant state of throat infections, along with an unpleasant gravelly voice. Today my use of Advair is down to one dose three days a week of the lowest dose available, my voice is back to normal, Prednisone is out, and Proventil is necessary only rarely. Last week my bike session set new records for my endurance, stamina, distance and time.
This is in just six months! -TC
It's fair to say that I was a total stress bunny and needed some help to start looking after my health after baby number two. Then I discovered Jennifer Merin Babich, and her whole outlook and ethos was exactly what I needed. My scientific background made it difficult to relate to other programmes, but the plant-based, whole foods approach makes sense to me. I started changing eating habits knowing I was doing the right thing. Her tailored, holistic approach to de-stressing, better sleep, whole-body exercise plans, and healthy eating has worked wonders; I look and feel 100 times better. My outlook on life has been adjusted, and I feel more prepared to, first and foremost, look after myself—something that is very hard to do as a working mother of young kids with dozens of commitments and challenges. Jennifer, has not only empowered me, but has done so gently and gradually so I could make LASTING changes at my own pace. I also really valued the product advice, from what to buy in the supermarket, to making my own chemical-free body lotions, sunscreen, etc. It really is an all-encompassing programme. -KD
I was at rock bottom physically and emotionally when I first met Jennifer. Overweight, non-motivated, body image conscious, and feeling like I was in a rut that was dragging me down. With a family history of diabetes, I knew I had to make a change.
Jennifer spent time talking about my goals, abilities, limitations, and was able to get a good sense of who I was so that she could personalize an effective plan for me.
Within 4 months of working with her, I completed my first 5k. Three months later completed my first half marathon. Four months later I completed my first full marathon. Yeah Me!!!!!!
I have lost 40lbs and am seeing muscles I never new I had. I am currently training for three more half marathons and my first Sprint Triathlon.
Nutrition and exercise are both important to my success and Jennifer explains why I should choose the carrot sticks over the fries. She genuinely cares about my success. -BG
